If you don't own a rice cooker...
I'm sorry, I haven't figured out how to cook rice manually yet...
But, if you do cook rice on the stove in a pot, you can prepare as usual then add those vegetables and sauce mixture. Then cook as you usually do.
Or if you don't have any vegetables, but want to make seasoned rice, you can simply just add those sauce mixture then cook. It's delicious!
It's way better than putting just plain soy sauce over steamed rice! try them!!!
If you don't have any dashi or/and sake, try this sauce mixture;
soy sauce...5tbs
sugar...3.5tbs
White wine...2tbs
You'd be surprised!
↑these are fried curd (on the right). I usually keep them in the freezer, and use them as I needed. I usually wash the fried curd in a boiling water to get old oil smell off (recommended) before cooking. It's a great ingredients for miso soup too :)
Edamame (on the left in the picture above)I usually buy them at Trader Joe's.
It's $1.69 each, already cooked and seasoned! All you have to do is defrost them :)
Great snack for beer, indeed!!! hahaha
Fruit Salad
Any fruits you wish to put.
Tonight, I used...
banana...1 (sliced)
strawberries...10 (cut in half)
oranges...2 (cut and trimmed)
Greek style yogurt...1/4 cup
sugar...2tsp
1) cut all the fruits
2) mix yogurt with sugar
3) mix them all together
My husband was off today, so he ate all that leftover food from last night for breakfast AND lunch...I felt bad...but he had to eat some for dinner tonight too ;p
It was really easy cooking today. Actually...I hardly cooked... I only used a stove for miso soup...for like 5min!
For tonight's dinner:
Prep time...10min
Cook time...10min (physically)
Rice cooker time...25min?
Tomorrow is Saturday, so no bento for tonight to pack. woo hoo!
Pitcure of the day...
These are Shiso leaves in my balcony!
When my parents were visiting last February, they planted them from seeds.
Didn't expect them to grow this much! (because I usually kill any plants or flowers within a day or two...)
I garnished Yakko Tofu (cold tofu) with Shiso leaves and some green onions tonight.
